Handles Itself is committed to making handlesitself.com usable for as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technology.

Our goal

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA on our public pages, and especially on our contact form, which is how people reach us.

Current state

Our home page and service pages use an immersive, scroll-driven video experience. We have built in the following accessibility support:

• The experience honors your operating system's "reduce motion" setting and turns off motion-based effects when you request reduced motion.
• Background videos are decorative and are hidden from screen readers; the meaning is also presented as real text on the page.
• Our contact form uses proper labels, keyboard navigation, focus management, and announces success and error messages to assistive technology.
• A built-in accessibility tools panel — the button at the bottom-right of every page — lets you adjust text size, contrast, color, link visibility, text spacing, a reading guide, focus highlighting, and motion to suit your needs. Your choices are saved on your device.

We know we are not perfect yet. We are actively working on areas including text color contrast on some labels and ensuring off-screen interactive elements are skipped by keyboard navigation. The accessibility tools panel on handlesitself.com is a set of preference controls we built ourselves — it is not a third-party "overlay" that claims to automatically fix the site, and it does not replace the accessibility work we do directly in our own code.
